Amazfit Bip 5 Review
What You Get
Our Take After Two Weeks
We wore the Bip 5 daily for two weeks, alternating between gym sessions, outdoor runs, and recovery days. The GPS locked within 15 seconds most mornings, which is faster than we expected at this price. Heart rate accuracy during steady-state cardio tracked within 3-4 BPM of a chest strap. Interval work showed more variance, but that is normal for wrist-based sensors.
Sleep tracking became the surprise highlight. The Zepp app breaks sleep into stages and assigns a readiness score each morning. We compared it to a dedicated sleep tracker and found agreement on about 80% of the staging calls. Not perfect, but useful enough to spot trends like short deep sleep after late caffeine or better REM on rest days.
Battery life landed right at 9 days with continuous heart rate monitoring and two GPS runs per week. That meant charging once during our two-week test, which felt almost strange after years of nightly Apple Watch charging.
The always-on display is sharp and readable outdoors. The watch face selection in Zepp is massive — hundreds of options, many showing real-time health data. Navigation through menus is smooth enough, though the single physical button means a lot of swiping.

Common Questions
Does the Bip 5 track HRV?
Not directly on the watch face, but the Zepp app calculates HRV-based readiness scores from overnight heart rate data. You get a morning recovery recommendation based on this analysis.
Can it replace a Garmin for running?
For casual to intermediate runners, yes. The GPS accuracy and pace data are solid. Serious runners who need advanced training load metrics or running power might still want a dedicated running watch.
Does it work without a phone?
GPS tracking works standalone. Notifications require Bluetooth connection to your phone. There is no LTE option, so calls and messages need your phone nearby.
