Normatec 3 boots are easy to use once you know what the settings do. The first session can still feel confusing.

Here is how to set them up, which level to start on, how long to run them and how the zones work.

Setup Before Your First Session

Charge the control unit fully before first use, which can take up to five hours. Wear the attachments over comfortable clothing, zip them all the way up and sit or lie with your legs straight. Connect the hoses, power on and pick your settings. Changing pressure pauses the session briefly, which is normal.

Pressure Levels

Normatec 3 has seven pressure levels. Level 1 is the gentlest. Most people begin low and work up over several sessions. If your feet tingle or anything feels sharp, drop a level.

How Long to Use It

GoalSuggested session
Warm up before training15 minutes
Post workout recovery30 to 60 minutes
Rest day flush30 minutes at a comfortable level

Zones and ZoneBoost

The leg attachments have five zones: foot and ankle, calf, knee, lower quad and upper quad. ZoneBoost adds 60 seconds and a little extra pressure to one chosen zone. You can also use Arms or Hips attachments, and the Hips attachment runs on two zones. When using one attachment, fit the blocking plug in the unused port.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Normatec 3 level should I start at?

Start at level 1, the gentlest of the seven levels, and move up a level at a time over a few sessions. It should feel like a firm squeeze, never painful or numb.

How long should a Normatec 3 session be?

You can choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. A 15 minute session works well before a workout, while 30 to 60 minutes is common for recovery afterwards.

What does ZoneBoost do?

ZoneBoost adds extra time and a bit more pressure to one zone, such as your calves, so you can focus where you are sorest. You can boost one zone at a time.

The Bottom Line

Start at level 1, use 15 minutes before training and 30 to 60 minutes after, and save ZoneBoost for your sorest spot. Increase pressure slowly and never push through pain.
